ECOPact
ECOPact low-carbon concrete delivers 100% performance, while offering at least 30% lower CO2 emissions compared to standard concrete, without offsets. It is suitable for a variety of structural components and can be easily handled, pumped and finished like conventional concrete.
ECOPlanet
ECOPlanet is the world’s broadest range of low-carbon cement. We use calcined clay and recycled construction demolition materials in our formulations to reduce ECOPlanet’s CO2 footprint by up to 50%, and can go further by leveraging alternative fuels.
Building history in Greece
At the center of The Ellinikon is The Riviera Tower. Once completed, it will be the highest residential skyscraper in the Mediterranean and the first LEED Gold pre-certified residential building in Greece.
For its raft foundation, we provided the largest one-shot concrete pouring in Greece. Using 120 concrete trucks, over 300 people from Holcim and our partners worked on the non-stop pour.
The country’s first zero-emission electric mixer trucks serve The Ellinikon, as Holcim Greece transitions to sole use of 100% electric trucks.

From the city to the sea
The Ellinikon will feature a coastal front, shops, hotels, housing and leisure facilities, making it a model for the 15-minute city. This means that residents will be able to access everything they need by bike, on foot or using public transport in just 15 minutes.
To connect the Ellinikon Park to the coastal front, an advanced 1.3 km road tunnel is being built using Holcim’s ECOPact concrete. The Poseidonos Avenue Underpass will greatly relieve traffic congestion in Athens and make seaside access easier for pedestrians.

A smart city comes alive
The Ellinikon is designed as a sustainable “smart city,” with a focus on achieving net-zero water and waste, while transitioning to net-zero emissions and building resilience to climate change.
At the heart of the project is The Ellinikon Park, which at 2 million square meters will be one of the largest city parks in the world. With over 3 million native plants and 31,000 trees, it will double the green space available to Athens residents.
